Reimaging te taiao o Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Te Orini ki Ngati Awa

Following several wānanga with kaimahi, whānau and tamariki of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Te Orini ki Ngati Awa, a planting day kicked off the kura’s transformation of their taiao.

Te Kura o te Orini’s plans are based on narratives around the kararehe that are kaitiaki of their kura; the wheke, tuna, whai, tohora and mangopare. Kaimahi, led by the rangatahi, have integrated plans for their outdoor spaces into their teaching planning; picking up aspects of Te Aho Matua, Te Marautanga o Aotearoa and their own localised curriculum.
